{"id":9507,"date":"2018-02-26T13:12:37","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T11:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg?p=9507"},"modified":"2023-09-01T11:02:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T08:02:02","slug":"autossl-management","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/en\/autossl-management.html","title":{"rendered":"Managing AutoSSL in cPanel (SSL\/TLS Status)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/en\/cpanel-autossl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"cPanel AutoSSL - SSL Certificate for Each Domain | Help SuperHosting.BG\">AutoSSL<\/a> is activated by default in your hosting account as it automatically installs and renews cPanel\/Sectigo certificates for each domain in cPanel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AutoSSL performs automatic check of all domains and if necessary installs new or renews the already installed cPanel\/Sectigo certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through cPanel \u00bb&nbsp;<strong>SSL\/TLS Status<\/strong>&nbsp;you can manage AutoSSL, perform a check or exclude a specific domain from AutoSSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading h3-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"search-and-filter\"><\/span>Search and Filter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/2018\/02\/ssl-tls-autossl-status-cpanel-search-domain-01.png\" alt=\"use the Search option and the filters\" class=\"wp-image-9446\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When there is a number of domains in cPanel (parked domains, subdomains, etc.), you might experience difficulties finding a certain domain in the long list. Therefore, you can use the <strong>Search<\/strong> option and the filters (the gears icon).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To view a certain domain or subdomain\u2019s status, start typing its name in the search box. Results will be displayed right after you type in the first letters of the domain name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can filter the results from the list by Domain Types, SSL Types, SSL Statuses or AutoSSL Statuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the filters to view the domains with installed certificates, the error messages upon installation or renewal, AutoSSL certificates or other criteria. All filters are marked by default, but you can also select only:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Domains with a&nbsp;Self-Signed&nbsp;certificate:&nbsp;SSL Types&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>Self-signed<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Domains with an&nbsp;AutoSSL certificate:&nbsp;SSL Types&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>AutoSSL DV Certificate<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expired Certificates:&nbsp;SSL Statuses&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>Expired<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AutoSSL Error Message:&nbsp;SSL Statuses&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>Has AutoSSL Problems<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Domains Excluded from AutoSSL:&nbsp;AutoSSL Statuses&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>Excluded<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading h3-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"autossl-status-and-management\"><\/span>AutoSSL Status and Management<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From here you can select the domains included in the AutoSSL check when it\u2019s performed. AutoSSL check is periodically run, but it can be also manually performed with <strong>Run AutoSSL<\/strong>. You can also exclude multiple domains by selecting them and enabling the option Exclude Domains from AutoSSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/2018\/02\/ssl-tls-autossl-status-cpanel-exclude-from-autossl-03.png\" alt=\"Exclude from AutoSSL\" class=\"wp-image-9475\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading h4-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"include-domains-during-autossl-check\"><\/span>Include Domains during AutoSSL Check<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/2018\/02\/ssl-tls-autossl-status-cpanel-include-during-autossl-01.png\" alt=\"Include during AutoSSL\" class=\"wp-image-9456\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AutoSSL is activated for each domain in cPanel. If you have manually deactivated AutoSSL for a specific domain, you can activate it again by using the option&nbsp;<strong>Include during AutoSSL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also include multiple domains by selecting them and enabling the option Include Domains during AutoSSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/2018\/02\/ssl-tls-autossl-status-cpanel-include-during-autossl-02.png\" alt=\"Include during AutoSSL\" class=\"wp-image-9477\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a specific domain is included, AutoSSL will automatically check it and renew its cPanel\/Sectigo certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading h4-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"starting-the-autossl-check\"><\/span>Starting the AutoSSL Check<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/2018\/02\/ssl-tls-autossl-status-cpanel-autossl-is-in-progress-01.png\" alt=\"AutoSSL is in progress...\" class=\"wp-image-9448\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In case you need to install or renew a certificate, use <strong>Run AutoSSL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the AutoSSL check is performed at certain intervals, when accessing SSL\/TLS Status, you might see the folllowing notification: \u201c<strong>AutoSSL is in progress&#8230;<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Run AutoSSL option will initiate the AutoSSL check for all available domains in cPanel, so it might need more time to finish processing all domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading h3-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"error-messages-during-autossl-check\"><\/span>Error Messages during AutoSSL Check<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If AutoSSL cannot install or renew a certain certificate, an error message will be displayed in the&nbsp;<strong>Certificate Status<\/strong>&nbsp;column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading h4-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-domain-is-not-redirected-to-this-hosting-server\"><\/span>The domain is not redirected to this hosting server<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the domain is not redirected to the hosting server, AutoSSL will not be able to install a certificate since domain validation cannot be performed. Sample error messages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-notice wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The system queried for a temporary file at \u201chttp:\/\/mailer.goodexample.eu\/.well-known\/pki-validation\/CD40CBAF8FD6275A2A0BAAFBEA99EF91.txt\u201d, but the web server responded with the following error:<strong> 404 (Not Found)<\/strong>. A DNS (Domain Name System) or web server misconfiguration may exist. The domain \u201cmailer.goodexample.eu\u201d resolved to an IP address \u201c164.138.218.155\u201d that does not exist on this server.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-notice wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;mysupersite.com\u201d does not resolve to any IPv4 addresses on the internet.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To install an AutoSSL certificate into the domain you will need to redirect it to the hosting server by <a title=\"How to Change My DNS Servers? | Help SuperHosting.BG\" href=\"https:\/\/help.superhosting.bg\/en\/how-to-change-dns.html\">using&nbsp;name servers or an \u0410 record<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading h4-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"restricted-web-access-to-the-domain\"><\/span>Restricted Web Access to the Domain<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For AutoSSL to be able to install a certificate for a certain domain it will need to perform validation by accessing specific file in the domain directory. When web access to the domain is restricted http:\/\/mysupersite.com<strong>\/.well-known<\/strong>&nbsp;AutoSSL will not be able to validate and install the certificate. Sample error message:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-notice wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The system queried for a temporary file at \u201chttp:\/\/mysupersite\/.well-known\/pki-validation\/085BC4C093ACABE40746261B7F2202D5.txt\u201d, but the web server responded with the following error:<strong> 403 (Forbidden)<\/strong>. A DNS (Domain Name System) or web server misconfiguration may exist.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading h4-gray01\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"wildcard-domain\"><\/span>Wildcard Domain<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the AutoSSL certificate is valid only for one domain, in case you have a <strong>subdomain&nbsp;*.mysupersite.com<\/strong>, AutoSSL will return an error message:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-notice wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;No certificate available. AutoSSL does not support explicit wildcard domains. You must purchase a certificate to secure this domain.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In case you wish to install a Wildcard certificate valid for all subdomains to the domain, you will need a Wildcard type of SSL certificate, such as <a class=\"helplinkext\" title=\"SSL Certificates | SuperHosting.BG\" href=\"https:\/\/en.superhosting.bg\/web-hosting-page-certificates.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sectigo Essential Wildcard<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a title=\"cPanel AutoSSL -
