Activating Memcached in cPanel

Memcached is supported for the SuperPro and SuperHosting plans.

To use Memcached, you need to activate it in the cPanel.

If you are using PHP version 7.0 or later, instead of Memcached, you can activate Redis, in cPanel -> Redis Manager.

Login to cPanel and select the “Memcached Manager by SuperHosting” menu.

In the next window you can see the status of Memcached.

Choose the memory size (from the hosting account’s memory) which will be allocated for Memcached.  Click on the “Save and Enable” button.

All changes will take effect within 5 minutes after saving.

Important: The port is different for each hosting account. After activation, a message for the port you need to use will appear.

For a host name you need to use 127.0.0.1.

Note: After Memcached activation in cPanel, you have to activate it once again in the application (website).

Please keep in mind that if Memcached is deactivated and then reactivated, the port will change.

This means that you need also to update it in the website settings.

In case that after activating Memcached you cannot enable it for your website (the option is grayed out), check and enable the PHP module memcache in cPanel -> PHP Manager.
